Let there be color!

We’ve been on vacation up on Mackinac Island for a while but it’s back to reality now! This coming week all of my posts will be shots of Mackinac. Today’s pictures will be of the drive up there. It’s about a six hour ride from home and the further we got into Michigan, the more vibrant the trees became. We always stop in Big Rapids to stretch and gas up the Jeep. @Elizababble took over driving so I could take pictures.

“Abandoned”

I’m always intrigued by things that have been abandoned. I wonder what the story is; How did it get there? What secrets do they hold? Recently, I was lucky enough to come upon a little “abandonment” in the woods.

First, there was this. Hmmmmmmmm It was a rope, not an electric wire or anything. How serious could they be?

It was a nice hike in the woods; eerily quiet too.

Then I spotted this:

I wondered how long it had been there. Did animals live inside? Where did the back of the truck go?

I turned around and about 50′ away I saw this truck who had met the same fate. This one still had part of the truck bed on it, but over the years it had been covered with branches and fallen trees.

I looked inside to get a glimpse of a little history: Mostly what I got a glimpse of was dirt, but it was surprisingly in decent shape.

Another picture of the first truck and then I went back under the “Keep Out” sign. No harm done. 🙂

“Call me Grace”

Today I went out to shoot photos of a little wildlife. Timing was everything catching the graceful landing of a Blue Heron.

The landing gear starts to come down

Uh oh!

Picture Perfect Landing 🙂

“It’s a bug eat bug world out there”

“It’s a bug-eat-bug world out there. One of those Circle of Life kind of things. Now let me tell you how things are supposed to work: The sun grows the food, the ants pick the food, the grasshoppers eat the food.”

Red-Tailed Hawk

I see this hawk all the time perched on top of this church steeple. This morning…….I had my zoom lens with me.
