“Call me Grace”

Today I went out to shoot photos of a little wildlife. Timing was everything catching the graceful landing of a Blue Heron.

The landing gear starts to come down

Uh oh!

Picture Perfect Landing 🙂

Red-Tailed Hawk

I see this hawk all the time perched on top of this church steeple. This morning…….I had my zoom lens with me.

Yellow Rumped Warblers

We’ve noticed these little beauties in the yard recently. It’s the first time we’ve seen them here.

Backyard Beauty

I took all of these pictures in my backyard. 🙂

Sandhill Cranes

Living just minutes from the Indiana Dunes and the Lake Michigan shore, bird migration is a common yearly ritual. In my opinion, nothing beats the Sandhill Crane migration. Their size alone; with a wingspan of 5-6 feet, is spectacular to see. On any given day during the migratory season, you can see thousands of them flying overhead.

Here are a few shots I took in March:

I was sitting on the patio earlier this evening and I spotted this guy. A peaceful ending to the day.

I’ve seen a lot of Robins taking baths in the yard, but this guy seemed to be having the time of his life!

Every so often you see something so peaceful, you can almost hear music playing in the background.

And then this guy comes screaming into the picture.

Gotta love nature 🙂

It’s been a hot weekend in Indiana. I think today the thermometer said 90, so instead of yard work, I opted to sit on the patio with a cold drink and my camera. I watched the birds perching on branches and fence posts with their beaks open, trying to stay cool. We have three birdbaths in the yard so they spent a good portion of the day visiting them all.

I turned the sprinkler on so it would go over a couple of the birdbaths. This female Bluebird was enjoying the spray.

The male bluebird never did get in, he just let the sprinkler go over him.

After all the birds were finished playing in the water, I got a shot of the male and female bluebird scoping out the nesting box.

Thanks for stopping by to look at my photos. I appreciate the visit.

I love the beach

I headed to the beach early in the morning last weekend with coffee and my camera to get a few shots before the world woke up.
